    PPTP and AltaVista Firewall 98

    Locked

    by gary.williams ·

    Hi there,

    Does anyone know if it is possible to set up a PPTP tunnel through the AltaVista 98 Firewall? I am able to set up a generic proxy for port 1723, but I am unable to find a way of allowing protocol 47 through the firewall.

    Any ideas?
    Regards,

    Gary.

      I assume You are using Unix.

      Edit /etc/protocols and add a line like:
      gre 47 GRE # Generic Routing Encapsulation

      Configure the GXD for tcp port 1723 with the appropriate security

      edit /etc/screend.conf and add something like:

      between interface red and host “ip address og the pptp system” proto gre accept log;

      or
      between host “external ip” and host “internal ip” proto gre accept log;

      Hope it helps.

      Bye Bruno
