    PPTP VPN

    Locked

    by techserf ·

I have IPCop as the firewall, with domain controller on the LAN, win2000.

The users want to access their work from home, so I am looking at letting them PPTP into the DC VPN.

I’ve done the port forwarding with ipcop, and that works fine. My questions are:

    1. Is there a better way to allow them to access their work/files from home, than doing the above?

    2. Should I put the VPN server on another member server, and not the DC?

    3. For security, if I put the VPN Server in a DMZ, how will the users still be able to access their files?

    Thanks in advance

I’m not sure about the practicalities here but if you’ve configured your IPcop to use 3 NICs, place the VPN server in DMZ on the orange network and define pinholes from green and red as required to the Orange network. Better still why not use the IPCop as the VPN endpoint?
