Preference and favortism in the work environment.

We have a fairly new boss who is still in the probationary period. This boss quickly befrended the newest staff member, and takes the word of this person over any of us, often missing pieces of information because they will not ask the senior staff. This new manager is also practicing favortism with job assignments, training and time off requests. The "golden child" is gettng what they want without hesitation. That is not the case with the rest of the staff. The new manager is not approachable and takes any effort to communicate as a threat, unless it comes from the golden child. Several of the staff have a strong suspicion that the "golden child" has poisoned the new manager's thoughts about us. Got thoughts on how to get my voice heard, win respect with this new manager?
