Preserving shares within the same server

By gavin.hunter ·
I have a share in a partition (D$) on my server containing user home directories (1000). I have had another hard drive installed and I now wish to transfer all my user directories over to a partition on the new hard drive. I have used subinacl to take ownership of all the files and then scopy to transfer all the directories to the new (F$) drive. This part has been successful. My problem is that the directories are no longer shared. I am running a security software product called Ranger that requires these directories to be shared. I would appreciate any help.

Check out this site. http://is-it-true.org/nt/atips/atips58.shtml

And consult Q141589 to accomplish what you want.

Using the same location in the registry described in Q141589 "hkey_local_machine\system\controlset001\services\lanmanserver\shares" modify the path of the existing shares to the new path. (e.g. old path=c:\program files new path=e:\program files).
It will require a server reboot. Try it on one share and test, before doing the change on all shares.
