Presscott temperature is too high

by cimbom_gsaray . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

I have got an Intel Presscott cpu 3.24 GHz. It is running on an Asus P4P800S-X. I placed it in a Lanmoto box from Thermaltake. Lanmoto has 3 fans in addition to the PSU and CPU fans. My CPU fan is a special fan manufactured with a big heat sink and I used arctic silver on the heat sink. I am neither overclocking nor playing CPU intensive games. The BIOS readings and MBM (Motherboard Monitoring) displays are almost the same. The idle CPU temperature is 54 C and with load it easily goes up to 60 C. These values seem to high to me even for a Presscott. I wish to hear the opinions of the people experienced in this area. Also I am looking for a program that will correctly monitor the temperature situation and take action automatically when needed. Of course simple-to-use, to-the-point freeware is my preference.
