Prevent a Javascript to lag a page load?

By tubadenis ·
Hi everyone,

I'm working on a new directory and I have a problem with a script linked to Alexa that shows the traffic ranking of the site reviewed on the page and that causes the page loads to lag.

I would like to have this script to be available in a form only if the user clicks on a submit button and it would open in the same page. It would be even better if it could preload and be ready when the user clicks on submit.

I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and this script is in a template editable area. Until the problem is solved, I made a copy of my template with the script and removed the script from the original template.

Here's the script that gives me a headache:
<td height="100">
<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="Alexa" --> <script type='text/javascript'language='JavaScript' src='http://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/t/a?url=www.sitename.com'>
<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

I've been reading your discussions for almost a year now and you guys have been a big help for my work on many topics so far. This is my first time asking for help and hope it works.

FYI, I'm fairly good at figuring out what a script does when I read it but I get that white page syndrom when comes the time to create one from scratch.
