I am working for a local law enforcement agency as their IT Admin. Recently we just started using this ftp client built into the police software. This software polls all networked computers in the dept. for arrests and when it finds them, sends them to the court system. This program need to be running 24/7. The problem I am having is the polling (ftp) is running on a computer that different officers use and they may accidently close this application. The application is minimized in the task bar and there is no running service connected to this program. The PC is runnin Windows 2000 SP4 and I would like to know if there is a registry hack to prevent a user from closing this application or a program to convert this application into a service.

i don't know of a way to block access to closing it even if it runs as a service. well, i suppose you could put permissions on the service...anyhow, what about just restarting the program periodically via a scheduled task? or, if you started the ftp program via a batch file, you could put restart after exit and loop it maybe...just 2 cents...
This program is good, but it did not accomplish what I needed it to do. It keep crashing giving me an error. Thanks for the link, I will keep trying for other software programs.
