prevent changing static IP addressess

we need to disallow client from changing thier static IP addresses , since we are providing internet access for IP addressess NOT user ID's and clients simply change IP to get internet access illegally
this is urgent
please help

1 option would be to use Group Policies and lock out the ability to change network settings on the work-stations.

For NT, 2000 and XP this is very effective.

For 95, 98 or Me, you may need a 3rd party utility.

Can't really suggest anything not knowing what type of network your running. Unix? Linux? W2K? NT?

if your running W2K server based networks with Active Directory, you can set group policy to disallow user changes.

If you do have 9x or ME then POLEDIT to set the PC so that user does not have access to the network control panel. You can do that same thing with NT, 2k and XP. Set the users up so that they are not Administrators of the local machine and hide the access to the Control Panel. Most of the time if they can not see it they will not try and change it.
