Prevent Deletion of Files in a shared drive

By valenciana33173 ·
Hello,

I need help and setting up NTFS permissions to a group of users in a shared folder. I want them to do anything on the folder, subfolders and files, but except detele. We lost important information on a file that it was delete by mistake. If I unchecked the modify permission they are not able to rename files, neither saving. I'm using SBS 2003 standard edition. Do I have to use a third party software???

Thank you in advance for your help.

Advanced NTFS

When you open the properties on the share select the security tab > select advanced > select the desired user(s) > edit > uncheck the box that says delete sub folders and files and also the delete one.
