I am looking for information regarding preventative maintenance for Win2K(SBS, Server, Advanced Server, and Pro.) This would cover details for maintenance of AD, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Event Logs, etc..

TIA,

Preventative Maintenance

Important keys of preventative maintenance:
1. Backup your files (All files on a regular basis). Plan on practicing recovering or restoring those files as part of an emergency recovery plan.
2. Create an Emergency Repair Disk.
3. Run Disk Defragmenter on a regular basis.
4. Scan all disks for errors at least once a month depending on server usage.
5. Keep you firewall and virus software up-to-date.
6. Monitor the system logs for any errors.

Most of these tools like Disk Defragmenter are included with Windows 2000 there are plenty of 3rd Party backup and disk tools available.

At the end is a technet article relating to backups.

Thank you for your submission. I was looking more toward higher levels of maintenance pertinant to Server specific components. I apologize if my question as stated was unclear.

Thanks,
