Preventing windows from being closed

By donalconlon ·
Hello,
How do I prevent the use of the "x" and "_" buttons on a window so that it can never be closed or sent to the taskbar or minimised. We are using Windows 2000. Thanks.

Other option to secure this workstation can be to built your own package of IE with IEAK6. This can be downloaded from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ieak/default.asp
Before download use a system which have IE6 installed.

What we are trying to do is build a pc where one window only is always open. This window will be an internet explorer web page window containing links to 8 different sites. This window should never be closed as it will be the only thing used on thispc.

One of your options may be to purchase Fortres 101, which public libraries and other public agencies use to secure computers form people going where ever they want.

You can do it with some Visual Basic code.

The following sample will show you how to disable the little 'X' close button found on the upper right of every window.

http://www.desertware.com/vbuniverse/disablewindowclose.htm

---------- or ----------

WinTopMost utility can put topmost automatically any window and/or disable its X close button (window's top right corner). Main features:

- Runs on Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/Windows 2000.

- Put allways on top any window or comme back to a"normal" (non topmost) window

- Disable or enable X close button of any window.

- Can set topmost automatically all windows with captions containing specific strings. WinTopMost intercepts windows captions when programs are running (can intercept many strings and set topmost many windows).

- Can disable automatically X close buttons for all windows with captions containing specific strings. WinTopMost intercepts windows captions when programs are running (can intercept many strings anddisable X close buttons of many windows).
