pri master hard disk:S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad, backup and replace

by david-kolevski . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

I rectenly bought 2 computers

the specs are:

E1200 dual core celeron
P5VD2-VM SE motherboard
1GB Corsir 667 MHz ram
Pioneer DVR-115D IDE DVD Drive
Seagate 160GB IDE Drive

Whenever i connect both devices on the same IDE cable, the error message comes up – pri master hard disk:S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad, backup and replace.

It reconizes the IDE drive but not the dvd drive.

If the ide hard drive is connected there is no error message.

If one drive is used the bios would reconize the drive.

I have tried using the hard drive as master and cd rom as slave and vise verser still no success

The issue is that the motherboard has only one IDE outlet, so the two drives must be on the same cable.

The strange thing is that i have two of these computers, one seems to be working with the concept, the other one is not.

Any advise is great.
