How do I print the file listings out of the temporary internet file folder in WIN98? Just a list of the contents. File names, etc.

I would try 'run cmd' or 'run command' if windows 9x then cd to the internet folder then
a) dir > lpt1 this or
b) dir > file.txt then Print file.txt. With method b you can check the file contents first.

1. Go to a command prompt

2. Change directories to the temp internet file folder. (I asssume you know where it is. I don't have WIN98 right now. It's under Windows, it's Temporary Internet Files, but in 98 there may be another folder above itor below it. Check in Windows Explorer. Anyway if you're at C:\WINDOWS> prompt, type cd\temporary internet files. Otherwise, type cd\windows and enter followed by cd\temporary internet files. Modify that if you exploration revealed a different path.

3. Once your're at the right prompt, type dir >lpt1 to just dump a list to your printer, or dir >yourfilenamegoeshere.txt, where you can specify a path and filename to save it to. Include the .txt extension and you'll have a file you can manipulate.

Sorry about the confusion in step 2, I don't haved WIN98 in front of me, and I don't know your level of expertise at the command prompt or in Windows Explorer.

You can also "print screens" by pressing alt+print screen. Then go to start/programs/accessories/paint. Once in paint program paste(or ctrl+v)image. This technique works with any program that uses ole technology. Hope that helps.

Here it is:

Invoke MS-DOS prompt (Start/Programs/MS-DOS).
From MS-DOS screen, go to the temporary internet file folder. Issue this command:

DIR /S > PRN

From the printer's control panel, eject the last page by pressing the FormFeed button.Or type

ECHO <ESC> > PRN

<ESC> is produced by Holding down the ALT key while your press the no. 2 and 7 from the numeric keypad. Then release the ALT key. This will send a carriage return to the printer to eject the last page.
