Print Server

By bill.beckett ·
I have an NT 4.0 printserver. We were using mostly HP printers and thus using the JetAdmin software. In Jetadmin you can see both the IP address and MAC address. We have recently started using the Microsoft TCP/IP printing (LPR ports) and this seemsto be more stable than the HP ports. However, when viewing the LPR ports, you can only see the IP Address, not the MAC. Is there a way to view the MAC address that corresponds with the IP address?

If you know the IP address you can telnet into the printer and get the MAC address.

From a command prompt, you can simply type :

NBTSTAT -A 180.180.180.1 (replace with your real IP address there). At the bottom of the list that appears after your command, you will find the MAC address of that Pserver.

Note: the A that followsthe command must be capital.
