Print server setup

By gmccalmon ·
I have several printers setup on a print server, some color, some not, and one with several trays with several different paper sizes and envelopes. I need info on how to setup each workstation so that they will be able to select the printer and thetray needed depending on their printing needs. Any info would be helpful.

Print server setup

Unless you have a Novell or NT server you will need to install the client portion of the print server software on each computer to be able to access the printers. You will also have to install each printer driver to match the printer on the print server and assign the correct port of the print server to the printer driver.

Once that is done the user has to select the printer and tray or other printer options from the software they are using to print or default them in the printer properties.

If you have a Novell or NT server you install the print server software on the server and attach the printers. Then each user computer has to have the printer driver installed and mapped to the server printers.
