Print server takes several min to print

Problem: whenever I print a document on a printer connected to the print server I get a "failed print" message. After several print "restart" comands (30+) the printer works fine.

Description: I have an HPdeskjet 5550 printer connected to a "generic" print server (CompUSA brand)and I use it to print from two computers (WinXP Pro).

The print server is connected to an ethernet port of the wifi router. One computer also conects to an ethernet port and the other connects using wifi.

The set up page of the print server shows the printer is offline. I will only go online (and print) after several restarts OR if I turn off the print server (by disconnectin it from the power source) and turn it on again.

Any idea on how to solve that?

what if you set up the printer at a static ip address, does that cure it?
is trying another print server an option.
or you could look for a firmware update for the CompuUSA print server. what? no support you say? well, don't buy *that* brand again...
also be sure to make certain hp supports networking that printer...

I already tried the static IP, and tehre is no support or firmware upgrade available. You are right, I'm not buying that brand again...

Try to add printer

Try to add ur printer in a client PC, maybe it is not avail in ur client dat s y, u can't print. All u have 2 do is go 2 ur server then share ur printer. After u share, go to the client and then add local printer.
