Printer

By brifd1 ·
I have an attached HP LaserJet 2100 printer that's been freaking out lately. It will either print a single page or nothing, then its orange light starts flashing. I tried to Add a printer, but made the apparent mistake of trying to add a new driver (vs. using the existing one). Now, it won't do a thing. I downloaded the driver from HP's website, and I'm hoping that if I shut down the PC and wait awhile, then re-boot, that I'll be able to add the printer again. This phenomenom is a recent occurence; the printer (networked) has worked fine for the past few months I've had it.

First of all completly remove the hp 2100 printer driver go to the printers section right click select > server properties > drivers tab remove it from here.

Then reinstall the printer driver. I use these printers at the schools i work at there getting pretty old now.

Good luck

I don't have that setting. I have General, Sharing, Ports, Advanced, Color Management, NT Forms, and Configure tabs.

Well open the Printer Window and right click on each install and click remove in the drop down menu.

The finial one should ask you that you have removed printer XYZ do you want to remove the drivers click on yes.

After you have done this reboot the computer and then install the Driver that you have but make sure that the printer is turned on at the time.

It would be a good idea to reboot after the printer driver is installed as well just to be on the safe side.

Of course all of the above only applies if the printer is still working it could have developed a problem and needs some parts replaced in the mean time.

Never the less the above is the correct way to remove and install printers.
