printer 2300d and win 2000

I have a dell Latitude D810 with win 2000. I have a hp printer 2300d.I plug it up with a usb cable.When I plug it up device manger comes up with usb dot4 hpz12 with the yellow !. I tried to load the printer and it loads but it want print.I tried different ports like usb or dot 4 and no matter what it will not print.I config it once and it didn’t give me a problem like retry or cancel but it still wouldn’t print. What do I do

Does it require USB v1.1 or v2.0? Whatdriver did you use? One from CD or downloaded driver? Try downloading new driver.

It does have usb 2.0 I downloaded drivers from hp unversial drivers and drivers from other sites.I don’t have the cd. I have other friends that have the same laptop and the drivers work fine on there laptop on my printer.

Are all the USB ports enabled in the BIOS?
Have you installed latest motherboard drivers?

The usb ports can see the external hard drive I plug up to it. Not a problem. There is more than one laptop of the same some work some donm’t with the printer.
