Printer access timing out?

By tom.greendyk ·
I have a Windows 2003 server set up as a domain controller and print server at a small home office. Everything works fine -- users log into domain, laser printer works fine, etc. However, if a user stays logged into the domain for a period of time with no activity (like overnight), for some reason they can't access the printer. When a print job is started on the client side, an error is produced that says "Unable to start print job". If the person logs off the domain and back on, everything is fine.

Any ideas on what this might be?

Are there power/energy save settings applied for the stations in question?

Try changing the spool location.

Rather than loggin off to reconnect you could also try 'Run' and type 'net start spooler', click OK
