Printer Default

By carronr ·
I have a small peer to peer network. Four PC's are using Windows 2000 and one is using Winodws XP Home. File and printer sharing is installed. My problem is that the shared printer on the XP PC replaces the default printer on the Windows 2000 PC. Is there anyway of correcting this?

when you added the new printer it was told to be default. To correct it, open the printers window and right click on the printer that you want to be the default printer. In the drop down box click Make Default

Create a test user account on the XP PC. Setup the printer using that test account. Then log on a local admin on the XP machine. Make sure that you can view all files. Copy all the folders and files from the profile (documents and settings folder) of the test account in the default users profile. Should stay!
Hope this helps
