Printer Disappears

By geneguy ·
This seems to be very weird. I got a call from one of our offices that they were getting printing errors. I connected to the machine that the printer is attached to. Went to settings, printers. I found no printers installed. I seen this happen before at another location, when I reboot the computer, all the printers show up again.Does anybody know why this occurs, and if so is there a fix?
Geno

I dont have a direct answer for you but I would suggest checking the events log for any errors. This normally will provide an insight to what is happenning.

Good Luck.

If the spooler service is not started, then none of the configured printers will show up in the Printers folder. The spooler service is normally set to start automatically when a machine is booted, so this would explain the printers reappearance.
Checking the event logs is good advice. this might lead you to the cause of the spooler service stopping.

Hope this helps, -Ewing
