    Printer error

    I have using an HP Deskjet 510 on a Windows 95 PC.
    After installation, only the Test Print Page afterward It can’t work and the message I get is: The printer is out of paper. What can be the problem?

      Several possibilities :

      – Paper sensor on printer is broken or needs cleaning
      – Assume you are using parallel cable, make sure it is bi-directional
      – printer may just be broken
      – Re-install driver

      #1–make sure that the power adapter is the correct one(DJ 510 is a Europian model).
      #2–I’m confused;does it no show that there is paper before any print jobs, or just after the first one? If it never shows that there is paper, use some canned air on the paper tray area, concentrating on the pickup roller area. I fthis doesn’t help, then you probably have a bad sensor.
      #3–As always, it is important the you have the latest drivers.
      #4–Just occurred to me;is it trying to pick up paper and can’t, or does it never try to pick up paper to begin with? If it tries to pick up paper and can’t, then my suggestion would be to resurface the pickup rollers with either a scouring pad with no cleaner, or a piece of fine sandpaper. To do this, just have it try to do a print job with no paper in it, then while it tries to pick up paper, hold the pad against wach of the rollers. You have to do this several times for each of the rollers. The DJ 500 and 600 series had some issues with this. Hope this helps!!!
