Question

Locked

Printer Issue

By clarkd038 ·
We have an old LJ 5, that has been around forever. No changes have been made to its configuration.

Now when you try to print from it, and choose the second tray it always prints from the first tray, in Microsoft office.

These computers were just recently updated to office 2007, and used to work before the upgrade.

If anybody has an idea or suggestion please post back

Thanks

Office knows about 'default' tray....

by robo_dev In reply to Printer Issue

I don't believe you can set the 'default' tray as a menu option on a LJ5 (as I recall)

It is possible with a PJL command sent to the printer.

PJL option: MP tray as a cassette or first tray

This command sets the configuration of Tray 1 (MP Tray) as either a first tray or a cassette tray. The default value is FIRST.

Note that in Office, the tray selection choices are: 'default' AND tray1 or tray2.

Perhaps you need to explicitly choose tray1 versus default?

Office

Thanks a lot for your response.

Yes the options are to choose your tray 1, tray 2, manual feed (tray 1). This is where I choose tray 2 so that it will print the paper with the leter head, but the printer still uses tray 1.

I don't know maybe i should just install the printer as a local printer on their machines and see if it works that way.

I first will go try to change the tray 1 to cassette, that way it will not be at the default first setting.

thanks again.
