Hi, I’m new here, so, I hope I’ve put this in the right place. Just recently I’ve started “losing” printer detection on my parallel port using Windows XP. If I go into Device Manager and change the port filter resource settings to anything — just make a change so that printer re-detection occurs, I’m okay for awhile. I haven’t isolated down to when this stops working, but, it has only started happening in the past 2 weeks or so — as if some Windows XP update caused the problem. I’m using a Dell Dimension 8100, HP Deskjet 870Cxi on ECP Port (LPT1), Windows XP SP2 with all the latest updates. Note: This also happens with my HP Officejet T45xi. I’ve been to Dell and HP sites, but, found no help. I did see a post here from someone who saw the problem in 2003, but, there wasn’t any real resolution, beyond changing the port filter resouce setting. Any ideas what could be causing this?
