Printer Migration

By DuncanRatcliffe ·
I will be migrating around 130 networked printers between W2K servers in the near future and dont want to do this manually. We have a mixture of NT4 and XP clients. I intend to use MS PrintMig (v3.1) to backup the configuration and restore to the target. I have run the resource kit tool fixprnsv.exe on the source machine and this reports that there are no drivers that are unsupported on W2K. I have then backed up the printer configuration and restored to a test server. During the restore warnings have showed up stating 'bad version 2 driver' mainly against Lexmark drivers, and also messages appear in the log stating that certain files are missing from the cab file. Has anyone used these tools before or had similar experiences with them ? Any comments much appreciated.

I did a similar operation a week or two ago. I found
that the warnings of bad versions were actually
incorrect. The missing files errors were also incorrect
- the files had already been migrated across earlier
on in the restore process.

Everything went smoothly, but if you do have
troubles, make sure you've got the drivers on-hand.
The queues will be fine.
