Running Dell Dimension 8100. Was running Windows ME. Reformatted and installed XP home. Upgraded BIOS on Dell PC. Have Lexmark Z51 printer. Tried installing printer with dowloaded driver from Lexmark and also driver from WindowsXP CD. Voice messagesays communication problem. plugged into parallel port. After uninstalling printer and removing printer from registry and rebooting, plug and play system doesn’t even recognize “new hardware found!”
Cable is bidirectional. Printer and cable worked before reformatting and installing XP. Lexmark customer support no help.
