    printer problem

I have a Lexmark LX1180 printer scanner which used to work pertfectly on my Evesham computer running XP sp2

There are 6 USB2 ports on the computer which all work with other USB devices

Now when I connect the printer it is recognised by pnp as a USB hub and when pnp looks for the driver to install it can not find it

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software manually many times but all I get is can’t communicate with the printer

Any one any ideas as what to try next

    Tony

This could be a USB and Windows XP problem as MS has recently released a Patch that is stopping several USB Devices from working in the name of Security.

I would look up the Lexmark Web Site and see if they have a newer driver for this unit and use that but if they don’t you’ll most likely have to try to remove the offending Windows patch.

Your USB Driver is corrupted i mean, reinstall the USP Driver again.

In addition to the previous answers…

Have you installed/updated any anti-virus software recently? I have experienced problems in the past with scanners when I have used McAfee AV because of the buffer-overflow protection (or something like that) – try turning off your AV temporarily to see if it has any effect).

      Thanks
