Printer Problem

By chitosunday ·
Just migrated from windows 95 to windows 2000 professional but my printer epson fx1170 cannot power on when i attached the cable to the cpu but if i remove the cable, it powers on. May i know what is the problem? Is it the driver or setting something? I tried to delete default printer in the setting but it say access denied, meaning i don't have rights. How can i get a right?

You get the rights if you login as "administrator", you will find 2000 a little more exacting than 95 with regards, to login rights, drivers and so on but it will payoff in the end! I have found epson drivers very flakey on NT systems. What I do is turn off the printer, remove the printer from Control Panel-Printer Folder, uninstall the driver from applications applet, reboot. Install the latest driver for the printer and follow the instructions and you should be fine.
