Printer Problem

By khaled ·
printer operators are not able to add printers to the domain or view properties of the current installed printers, this problem only occurs if they are working on NT workstations, the problem doesnt exist if they are working on NT servers, any domain admins or administrators are able to. any ideas ?

I am assuming the NT Workstation is logging into the domain. Also, since Domain Admins and Admins are able to add printers etc. they must be a member of the power users or administrators on the local machine. The print operator is probably only a user on the local machine. If this is so, do the following: Create a global group in the domain. You can call it Print or whatever you like. Make Print a member of the domain's Print operators group. Add each print operators domain account tothegroup Print. On each NT workstation they will be using, add Print (the domain group you created) to the Power Users local group. They should now be able to change the settings. If they use the same machine all the time, you could just give their domain account power user privilege on the NT Workstation they work on. The first example would give all of them access on all machines that Print is a member of the power users group.
