I have a lexmark Z11 printer woked fine went from M.E. to X.p. updated drivers for ntfs it reads it loads files to Que and prints half sometimes not at all and sometimes at next restart.

sounds silly and simple but 9/10 times it works.

Remove the printer physicaly from your pc.
Uninstall the printer software from the contol panel if it is there (add remove software) then remove the printer. Reboot.
IF USB plug the printer in while xp is running. It will locate it, install it and set it up.
If parallel, turn off pc, install cable and turn on the printer. start pc and open xp/administrator. it should find the printer and load, install, and set it up.

All this will only work properly if your Printer is located on the HCL for XP. this can be identified on Microsofts website or on your installation media kit (cdrom)
