Printer Problems

I am new to the IT field so I could use some help. I am on a Windows 2000 network with a inkjet printer attached to machine. When I try to print, it will only print about half the page and then will print a line of garbled text on each additional page until I turn the printer off. It will also keep pulling pages through even though it is set for only one page. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer as well as the driver. I also tried printing directly to the printer instead of spooling. I ran a virus scan too, but it came back negative. I downloaded SP4 but I don’t know if that would help or not. Please help me out.
