Try a cold reset on the printers. Most HP, turn the printer on with the on-line button down, wait for LCD to say "cold reset".

Any NDS problems?

From PConsole, can you delete, recreate q/p/s

The first thing to do is print a self-test on the printers. My bet is that they will show some kind of a connection problem.
-Usually a reset of the printer or printerbox will do the trick. They log in again, everything OK.
-In some cases you may need to reset the password (in NWadmin) of the printserver (=the jetdirect) to blank (=no password). Then reset the printer or printerbox, and they can connect again.

This is due to the server restart while the printers were connected. A "Client32" on a PC can reconnect after that, printers usually not.

So many things can go wrong in printing nowdays. In addition to the above ideas (all good):
As you know jetdirect is no longer supported for HP. HP now uses a program called HP Download Mgr. (dlmsw32.exe)
I believe the real truth is, they want to get away from IPX and stricly run TCIP.
Another download from HP that might be benneficial is HP Install Printer Wizard (ja255en.exe).
Can you see the print server logging into the console? If not it probably cannot login as Jim suggested above. Sometimes this can be remedied by removing all objects from NWadmn32 then re-creating all new using "Tools" then "Print Services Quick Setup (Non-NDPS)". This will create the objects in the order that NDS loves.

PS If you suspect a problem with the SP9, you can also uninstall it and re-install it.

What is the status of the Printserver in pconsole? <Print Servers>, select print server <Information and Status>. Is the status down?

The first i would check and make sure the print server is loaded correctly. I have notice that after a sp9 install you have to use dn of print serverr to get it to load.

ex "load pserver psgrys.grayson.cb"

With out the printer server load, thejetdirect software will produce an error very close to what you discribe.
