Printer problems with WinNT

by remus87 . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have two HP printers (a deskjet 970cxi and a designjet250c) both connected to lpt1 on win98se clients. They are set up as shared printers on the network. All other win98se clients on the network can print to them with no problems as can win2k clients. I am having a problem printing to them with clients running winnt 4 SP6. I get an error ‘the filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect’. I am using the latest drivers on all systems and the nt4 clients can see the printers. The ports are mapped to the correct printers and the printers work if set up on the local winnt machines. Why will they not print over the network?
