Printer Settings Could not be saved

By fanchant ·
We have installed an HP Laserjet 1100 on a Windows 2000 Pro machine. When we try to share this printer, we get a "Printer Settings Could Not Be Saved. Operation Could not be Completed." error. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Can't find anything at MS Knowledge Base. Any help will be welcome.

Sounds like a Windows 2000 permissions issue. Try giving the local account administrative privilidges and then sharing the printer. You can then revoke administrative privilidges once the printer is shared.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I tried. At least I think I tried it - I'm working with a fairly non-literate end user 2000 miles away so who knows what's really happening.
