Printer sharing

By htrsdakota ·
OK! I have a network going between a wireless laptop and a wired Me. I can see all shared files and I can install a printer on the laptop that is connected to Me. When I go to print a test page I get a message: Test page failed to print. Unable to create print job.

Any suggestions

According to the MS database at the following URL;en-us;307162

"This behavior can occur if the portable computer has cached domain credentials and Windows XP cannot verify that the computer is in a secure domain environment. Windows 98 and Windows Me cannot provide a secure domain environment for Windows XP."

The article doesn't have a solution.

The only way to print that I know of is to get a long USB cable and attach directly to the printer whenever you need to print. Inconvenient. Hope someone else has a better answer.

are both ME? did you try creating an account with same username and password added to local administrator group on each pc. so each pc logs in with same username and password?

Did you remember to actually share the printer on the ME box?

If the printer isn't shared you will get that error message as there is no printer available for you to connect to.
