    Printer sharing w/win2k

    Locked

    by alan.schmeelk ·

I am running a small network at home using win2k as my primary system with a HP1000 printer attached via USB. The printer runs fine from my w2k machine. Here’s the problem: All my efforts to share this printer with my win95 box have failed. the w2k machine will not allow me to load the win95 drivers that would allow the win95 box to share the printer.Help!

You do not have to install the 9x drivers on the W2k machine. This is a nice feature, having the “server” deliver the drivers at the initial client install. You can add the ‘network printer’ to Win9x and simply supply the drivers right at the installation wizard.
I’m not sure why W2k is not taking the win9x drivers, but the above should provide a work around to get you going.

True about compatabily problem. Try downloading drivers for printer from http://www.hp.com and look for support.

Attaching the printer to Windows 95 PC sounds an alternative if latest drivers don’t resolve issue.

basically was a 32bit driver issue, had to load updated v. of windows on the older pc.
