    printer software

    my printer is a HPDeskjet 695C.my pc cannot
    detect it even after tring to re-instal it’s (printer’s)software .what can be the problem?

      You have to give some more details.
      Is it working previously or is it the first time you are using it?
      You can try some other drivers provided with Windows such as Deskjet Plus.
      Check your BIOS settings – you should enable the Parallel Port first.Also make sure that you are using ECP or EPP.These settings have to be changed in the BIOS.

      Assuming that the printer H/W is o.k.
      Note that HP printers supports Bi-directional parallel port ,so you must have your are using a cable which is IEEE 1284 compliant.
      Make sure the pc bios is configured for bi-directional parallel support.
      To make sure whether the problem is S/W or H/W : from command propt (under dos if possible) choose a directory that have not more than 100 fils and type the following command:
      dir *.* >lpt1
      If you have a printout (list of files under the directory) then there is no H/W problem.
      Note that if the list is under 64 files you’ll have to press the formfeed button to print the list.
