We have a Lan (16 desks + server)
Win 2K O/S all machines are purpose built – 1gig pentiums – 128 Ram – 20gig HDD etc.
We had an older printer (Brother 2400 color) and when this gave an immediate stop error we accepted that the driver was an ‘issue’ so we took it off and bought an HP Laserjet 2200D.
We installed it to the (physical) first computer in the room and shared to the other 15 after a day or so this pretty much gave the same problem
i.e. one by one the computers (10) gave a stop error page fault listed here
STOP 0x00000050 (0xBFD02000, 0x00000000, 0xBFCF7CDE, 0x00000000
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
We get the same with the ‘latest’ driver from HP.
after uninstalling the printer and deleting the share, we can now only boot these machines if we unplug the cat5 boot the machine and re-plug the cat5, but of course we still have no printing.
this is an important time for us as the suite that is affected is where our students are undergoing exam work.
we have done the usual round of microsoft.com – HP.com.
The company that installed our network think that we need OKI printers because they cause no problems (and they happen to stock them?)
can anybody help please. JohnM
