Printing documents with Lexmark X83.

By dishigo ·
I have a Dell Demension 4400, Pentium 4, Win XP, 40GB HD, 256mb Sdram, ethernet card hooked up to a cable modem for Road Runner access. I installed a Lexmark X83, and when printing the test page or any document, it takes about10 minutes for it to print. When I disconnected the cable modem from the ethernet card it printed normally. What is wrong? I wrote to Lexmark and Dell, and they said to ask the other "guy".

I recommed that you run the Lexmark Uninstall program, then thier clean utility " LXKX83CLEAN.EXE" and then reinstall the programs according to documentation.

Multifunction printers operate under DOT4 and if not installed in the proper order, tends to create these huge delays in getting print jobs. I've seen this occur with HP multifunction printers in WinXP and Win2000.

Personally, my opinion, is that the printer/scanner/copier/fax (etc.) drivers are not specifically written to thatOS and therefore, the problem is technically Lexmarks problem. If you install the same printer on Win98SE, you will not have any problems.

P.S. You can get Lexmarks Clean utility from:

http://drivers.lexmark.com/drivers.nsf/printer+driver/777DC24046E9F64085256C5D0057784F?OpenDocument&Lexmark+X83

Remove any embedded spaces from the above link when pasting into your browser.

Thank you Anna777.
I tried uninstall and Lxkx83clean.exe. And also installed the updated software for Lxk x83, but same problem. Could there be a conflict with the Cable modem or Ethernet card. Because if I disconnect the cable modem, it prints fine. But then I don't have internet connection. I checked the IRQ and they are different.
