Printing From A Different Domain

By Pooki_24 ·
I recently installed a new printer on my Windows 2000 Server. The server is on an active directory domain. I have some users that are still on the old domain, which is still using Windows NT 4.0 Server. Because they don't have a user account under the new domain, they run into permission errors when trying to print to the new printer. I couldn't find a way to add them under the security tab of the printer properties. Does anyone have any suggestions? The last thing I want to do is to create an account for them under the new domain because it would cause take too much time to migrate everything over.

You need to set up a Trust between the NT4 domain and the Win2K domain. Once your 2 domains Trust each other, then you would be able to add the user accounts from one domain into permissions for printers/shared folders on the other domain.
No extra accounts needed.

For NT4, you use User Manager For Domains to add a Trust; for Win2K, use AD Domains And Trusts.
