printing from xp home to xp home

getting frustrated...

I setup network printing for a friend the other day and now its acting very flaky

his desktop is windows xp home and it is sharing the printer.

i added the shared printer to his laptop via add printer/network printer/connect to (\\desktop-pc\printer) and was able to add the printer and printed a test page. he said by the next day it wouldnt print anymore. I had him restart the desktop and then he could print again for a short time. had him disable firewall on desktop also. i had enabled file/print sharing on firewall when i setup but wasnt sure

not sure whats going on, any ideas?

Only one question

Were you, when you presented yourself to your friend, dressed in a robe, carrying a sceptre, and wearing a steep, conical headpiece with stars and moons embossed on it?

In that case, I would start to worry, too.

With a little tidying-up, you could have made that into a particularly strong, simple statement.

As it is, you blew it.

I figured it out

Had to add the laptop username to the desktop admins group. it wasnt prompting him for authentication when adding printer.

do me/u a favor and get over yourself.

although your comments were very informative.
