    Printing GPF

    by martin brant ·

I have several users who all have the same problem. When printing from Win95 client to a networked HP LJ4000TN they get a GPF in GDI.EXE and always at the same address 0008:00002dda. I’ve tried the obvious stuff like remove and re-install the printer, remove and re-install different apps and I’ve followed the advice from HP (change the font settings for the printer to send as bitmaps). The problem can occur when printing from IE, Acrobat or Excel (probably others as well).

This is driving menuts, any ideas greatfully received.

Try to use different driver. You can use PCL5e, PCL6 and PostScript drivers (download from HP). Sometimes the PostScript driver can fix problem. If it won?t work ? to verify problem ? install driver for eg. HP LJ4 and map it to your networked printer-HPLJ4000. Check/change HP4000 printer driver/settings in your server.

That worked. Setting the printer as PS fixed the problem.

        Thanks.
