Printing in NT

By Poettone ·
I have a situation that is baffling. I have two users on a two Win98 machines that receive an error upon attempting to print. It states there's an UNKNOWN SYSTEM ERROR, the printer will now work offline. I cannot delete the printer with this user signed in. I sign in and then can remove and reinstall the network printer. I then have them sign back in and the printer fails with the same error. I had a user with bare min rights sign-in and could install and print fine. As soon as the problem person signs in they cannot print. We have many users with many network printers. Im getting this problem with two individuals on the same printer. They both can install other printers and print.Any clues as to the problem would be helpful. Thank You

well first tell me where is your printer is it functioning from the NT server or connected to one of these 2 PCs ? if it is connected to one of these 2 pcs you have to check to the local pc whether the connection and cables are fine. Next check theother user where it is on the network that he is accessing the PC. Sometimes when you have installed the printer the server would have been down and that time it becomes offline printer. And later it keeps showing the same error. So you check forits online status and re-install printer it should work

Here you did not specify it is that the printer is attached on the nt / win98 machin.Well if the printer is on NT/win98 machin. Ok re install the printer on win98 machin & specify it is when u installing the printer (slact the network option). And specify the machin where the printer is attached & compleat the installation.
When u giving the the print command then spacify the perticular printer on which u want to take the print out.

The printer is a network printer. Setup on an NT server through JetAdmin.

The rights on the spool folder on the NT server has been blocked by the user profile.
Allow read/write on the folder should clear the problem.
