printing in XP cuts off bottom of page

By pchw ·
Migrating from NT to XP. When user with brand new XP box prints in Word XP, occasionally it doesn't print the last part of the page, and leaves a bottom margin of approximately 2 1/2 inches. This occurs in various documents with various users on various printers (but they are all HP Laser Jet 4000T and 4050T printers). The user can print the same document several times and sometimes it prints correctly and sometimes it doesn't. We have changed printer drivers, rebuilt user profiles and the like, all to no avail. A temporary workaround involves the user looking at the document in print preview, and if it is cut off, then close out of the document and reopen it, and it print previews correctly and prints correctly. We are pulling our hair out over this. Only seems to be happening in Word. HELP!!!!!!

found out that by using some BETA drivers on an obscure HP site, that resolved the problem, also had to go into the registry and clean out any remnants of the previous printer and driver, so it wouldn't get hung up on that
