printing off the net...

By pinar ·
Hi, I'm a teacher at a school which has gone heavily into CALL. My problem is that anyone who has access to a printer prints pages and pages of stuff off the net. I happily took the info about the LockDown Tool to the techies. It looked to me like we could disable Internet printing. I got that from the 2nd page. Am I wrong? The techies told me it could never stop people from printing off the net. Is that right? Please give me an answer. I know I'm supposed to read more before asking around but printers have become an issue at school and they are looking at me for an answer...

Even if they couldn't print from IE Explorer there is always cut and past to word, notepad, mspaint whatever. If you don't want them to print remove the printer.

Copy and paste is exactly what I'd like my colleagues to do. It't not the contents I object to but the amount the printer will spit out from a web site.

hi, There is away to deny users to print more than x number of pages on LAN be it using IE, Word or Execl.
Go to www.windows2000.about.com & there check in printer Utilities, several eval/free utils are there about shared printer accessing for admins. You could also use NT Server's Event Viewer to see the log on which user prints etc.
Luck,
Akash
