Printing over Bluetooth

By stephen_rogers ·
I was told that I could buy two Bluetooth USB adaptors, place one in the laptop, and one in the USB port of a printer. (The printer, an HP Photosmart 7850, is Bluetooth capable.)

Once I try to configure a Bluetooth printer port in XP, I never find the Bluetooth USB adaptor connected to the printer.

Was I given bad information or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Stephen

I have not heard of that

I have never tried just plugging in any BT adapter onto the USB port of a printer. I always use the one specified for the model of the printer

Your model printer has the option of BT with this adapter

While I knew about that part, I couldn't find anywhere that said I definitely needed that part...until now.

Thanks. Part ordered.

Do I need 2?

by stephen_rogers In reply to I have not heard of that

Do I need two of the HP adaptors (one for the workstation and one for the printer) or should I be able to print to the HP adaptor in the printer from any USB bluetooth device?

Why is this technology so under-documented?

Or is it just me? :)
