Printing problem

By hewood ·
We have 2 Windows 2000 Pro workstations and a Windows NT 4.0 Server to our left. The server has an HP 1000C printer shared off its lpt1 port. We installed the NT driver for the printer on the 2000 Pro machines(HP does not have a 2000 driver for this printer) and they talk to the printer however, more times than not, the print is white - washed in the center. The ends of the print have full color but the focus of the aerial is in the center of the paper, generally. We thought that putting service pack 6 on the server would help, but it did not. Is there a work around that you can suggest? Other than, buying a networkable color printer that does 11x17.

May I suggest contacting the printer's vendor? They may have specific drivers for your scenario....

Good luck.

Instead of HP's 1000c printer driver, why not use W2K's HP 1000c driver. Just try add printer - HP - HP Deskjet 1000C and insert your cdrom.

Don't forget to check that the printer (on its own) is working correctly. Is there a way to print a test page from the printer (not from the server)? If so check that... you could have a printer hardware problem that's causing your symptom. good luck

I have already looked at HP for a W2k driver. There isn't one. Is there some trick?

Does the printer work well if you print from the server it is attached to? If it does then uninstall it from the workstations (remove driver) and just map to the shared printer. do not install drivers for the printer on the workstations. See if thatworks.
