Picture two corporate XP users who are located in different buildings, but under the same network. They are printing to different printers, but both of the printers are HP4100TN. Both users have the exact same XP image load, and the exact same version of Access. The problem: When the user in Building A tries to print a report from within ANY database, they recieve the Microsoft Access Message “There was a problem retrieving printer information for this object. The object may have been sentto a printer that is unavailable.” They are able to print in all other programs though, so this error message doesn’t make much sense. HOWEVER, if they set their default printer as BUILDING B’s 4100, they CAN print. Building B does not have any problems printing, but when I set their default printer to Building A’s, they received the same error message. It’s obvioulsy something to do with the printers, but WHAT? I checked w/a fine tooth comb to see that both printers, OS loads, and Access Versions are just alike! Oh, and heres a kicker… I found out that the only Win98 machine in Building A prints just fine from Access – it’s as if it were laughing at me.
