Printing Problems

By smilko ·
I have a HP LaserJet 2200 with a jetdirect card inside. It is attached to the network and picks up an IP address from the From the DHCP server. One of the clients Workstations has a little problem. It prints fine to the printer but whenever you shut the PC off and turn it back on it prints everything that it already printed during the whole day again to this printer. I tried updating the drivers put it didn't work. The printer Queue is empty before I shut the PC down but magically full when I turn the PC back on.

I have a Minolta printer at work that is given a Static IP address. I am able to surf into that IP address and view another que inside the printer's system itself. See if you can do the same; and if so clear it.

Also check your startup files for anything that doesn't belong; particularly HP programs that aren't needed. (Do this from msconfig.) You can generally uncheck any printer software and still have the printer work fine; and it may be that somewhere in there something is keeping track of what you are printing.

does the user have the rights to fully control their jobs? have you check the rights on the spool folder on the problem computer. anything in the event logs? if you logon with local admin rights (and/or domain admin rights) does the problem reproduce?

Thanks everyone. I figured out the problem or at least a solution to it. For some reason when I set the printer up with TCP/IP protocal it has this problem, but when I set it up with IPX/SPX it works. The printer is configured to work both ways.

Yes the user has administrative rights. It happens no matter what account I log in with.
