Is there a way to configure windows to print to a workgroup or dns named printer as opposed to a specific IP address? The goal is to circumvent the need for port changes on the local computers if the printer IP changes.

I would advise to reserve the IP address for the printers mac when using DHCP to allocate IP addresses and setting up print queues with the Hostname instead of it's IP address, which requires DNS to resolve the IP address. particularly MFD devices as slow/no updates on DNS will cause the device to be unavailable untill the DNS update is pushed through.
